When did you start barrel racing? When I was 13

Are you involved in any other equine events? Nope

Who or what got you started in barrel racing? A lady at a stable where I was boarding my horse started giving group lessons. I joined in!

 

On the road things sometimes happen. Do you have an unusual or funny
story? We had just finished up the weekend package in my trailer that morning and I was in a rush to get to Alvarado. Well we had installed an AC that had a heat strip or that is what we paid for. I got to Alvarado and the temp dropped down to 27 degrees!!! Well the heat strip did not get installed! Me and my friend Michelle froze to death and had to huddle together under 2 sleeping bags! Two nights in a row! Why we did not go get a space heater or even a hotel room, I have no idea...lol

What was the name of your favorite horse? Tell us a little about it. Right now, its Gabe. Gabe is a 9yo QH gelding that I raised from a yearling. He is super smart and spoiled. He may be just a 4D horse, but he knows to stay with me and under me. He knows that when I loose my stirrup he has to slow down so I dont fall off! I also give riding lessons on Gabe. He loves the little people!

What are some of the events you have won (or races that stand out in
your mind)? Recently I won 2nd and 3rd in the 5D in Glen Rose at the Pac West barrel race. I have won some at WBR's and NBHA'S.I used to run just NBHA's on my horse TJ. But I have been given some help to get to the big races over the last couple of years so Gabe and I hit the road :)

Over the years have you noticed any changes in barrel racing? What are
the good or bad ones you've seen? I love the D's. Why? Well I am not a 1D runner. Never have been! I love that I have an opportunity to make a run against the top dogs and still have a shot at the pot!

What do you think of an equal pay out 4d? Love it :)

Do you think of yourself as a professional barrel racer? No. I just run for fun!

If you're not a professional barrel racer, what do you do for a
living? I hope to be a teacher when I grow up!

Who is your favorite barrel racer or barrel racers? Hm, well.....I rather not say.

Do you have any advice for anyone just starting out in barrel racing? Find someone who can help you get started!

Do you think barrel racing should be limited to women only? Nope!
